If I had my choice of couture to wear ( a girl can dream, can't she?) I would choose Christian Dior. Oh, how I love the ladylike silhouettes (the New Look!) and the yards and yards of sculpted fabric. Each season is built off the last- each season makes sense based on the last. It's avant garde, but perfectly sensible and modern.
