Party like a Farmer

Today was awesome. Let me tell you why.

Church was so good! Pastor Steve taught from Isaiah about the virgin birth of Christ and how we should party because of it.

The people walking in darkness
have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned.

You have enlarged the nation
and increased their joy;
they rejoice before you
as people rejoice at the harvest,
as men rejoice
when dividing the plunder...

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9:2-6

What that says it we're supposed to party like farmers. He went on to talk about dancing and having a good ol time. We have so much to celelbrate this season! The birth of the Messiah!!! Amazing.

Also, his sermaon was really short, so that was good. And also we sang Christmas songs in church which is my absolute favorite thing in the world.

After church Scott, Ingrid and I went to lunch then Ing and I went to the City to look for wedding shoes and bridesmaid dresses. It was super fun. I love her. Our entire conversation on the way there was spoken in fake British accents. We are awesome. Ingrid even found a YouTube video on how to speak proper English.

Then we saw this lady singing on Maiden Lane... I was first tempted to make a joke about it 'being over' but then her voice captivated me! We stood and listened for several minutes. I could have stayed for hours.

When we got back to my house Scott came over and we made grilled cheese sandwiches and cinnamon rolls. It was the perfect Sunday.

Bumpers as Soapboxes

South of the 10: Los Angeles: California (I don't know the name of the neighborhood...)

It's nice to see someone else echoing my sentiments. In February. I love seeing Christmas stuff that is up all year. Now that I think about it, I should have left a note on this truck. Dangit!

Mission District: San Francisco: California

Hi, your license place is hecka awesome, but you drive a Beamer, live in the Bay Area and are surely eating a delicious dinner in The Mission. What could you possibly have to complain about?!

Four Barrel SF

So, I arrived to my last appointment today about 45 min early. I went in the store (Candy Store in Mission- adorable. Shop there.) to see if they could see me then, but my contact wasn't in yet. So, being a woman of wisdom, I asked if there was a good place to get a cup of coffee nearby.

"Yes! There is. Two blocks down on Valenica, it's called Four Barrel."

So I headed that direction to find a very hip indie roasting coffee shop. Love it. The decor was very 'hipster goes hunting in  New England'- right up my alley. Jeremy Scott and the Misshapes collab with Ralph Lauren. Love.

I chatted with the girl at the counter about her mothers collection of vintage scarves and the benefits of cold brewing coffee. When I ordered and pulled out my card she sighed and told me they are cash only. Bummer. But then she says she'll give me my coffee and I can come back and pay. Sweet! (I didn't, I walked down to the ATM down the block and came back- I would hate to be the girl that forgot to pay!)

So I am sitting in the window enjoying my my delicious iced coffee (black) reading about the upcoming presidential debate when a man walks in, "Excuse me, Miss?"

"I saw you walking, and had to come tell you-- You are very beautiful."

He was so polite!! And, of course, black. (Black men seem to love me. It's a thing.)

All in all, my experience at Four Barrel was quite a good one. Thanks, San Francisco! Oh, and that last photo is the bathroom door (of course even the bathroom is so hip). I took a photo to remember what that strip of paper said. Too bad you can't read it! It said something to the effect of Tights are for boys with fantasy nicknames. No idea what that means, but I like it.

My Heart Floats in the Bay

my city

Tonight when I got off work I jaywalked across O'Ferrill then Powell, as per usual. It was windy, but not cold and the light was reddish from the scattered neon lights and stop lights, and fewer people than usual roamed the street.

A man stood in front of the hat shop on the corner playing the saxophone. He wasn't very good, but what he lacked in talent he made up for with soul.

It was the perfect music for a beautiful night in my favorite city.
