Swept Away: The Avett Brothers

This might be my new favorite song. It's been stuck in my head for a week
and I just can't get enough of it!!

Also, one of my bff's just got engaged yesterday(ish) and I am
soooo excited for them. Yay love.

Well you set my life a whirling
Darlin when you're twirling, on the floor
And who cares about tomorrow
What more is tomorrow, but another day

Well you swept me away
Yeah you swept me away

I see the end of the rainbow
But what more is a rainbow than colors out of reach
If you come down to my window
And I climb out my window then we'll get out of reach

And you swept me away
Yeah you swept me away

You said with such honest feelings
But what'd you really mean when you said that I'm your man
And how my darling can it be
That you have never seen me, and you never will again

Chorus

Life is ever changing
But I will always have a constant and comfort in your love
With your heart my soul is found
And as we dance I know that heaven can be found

Well you set my life a whirling
Darlin when you're twirling on the floor
And who cares about tomorrow
What more is tomorrow than another day

And you swept me away
Yeah you swept me away

Here's a crappy video of them performing the song:

Northern District

This is Derek Walker.

Sometimes I call him my best friend, sometimes we lie and say we're siblings, sometimes I just take his order at Peet's (medium low fat iced mocha in a large cup- no whip).

Derek is a musician. He leads worship at Cornerstone Fellowship here in Livermore, and his most recent musical endeavor is a collaboration (not sure I'd really call it a band...) called Northern District. I voted for Northern Knives, but it's not my project so apparently my vote didn't count.

Northern Distrct doesn't have a website yet, but Derek just started a blog. Derek, the ever private songwriter is finally sharing a piece of himself and his songs with the mindless masses (and us).

This is great news. Derek is brilliant. Really. People say that about their friends. They love them so things sound better, but I am 99% sure that he really is brilliant. Yes, I love the guy, but he has a gift like I have never heard in real life before and I am proud to call him my friend.

Listen to his songs. You won't regret it.

DSquared2 effing Rules my Life

I love DSquared2. I secretly believe Dean and Dan use me as their muse, but that's another story.

The last couple seasons haven't been their best, but Fall 09! Wow! Their best yet. And so clever! I'm sorry but the gossip rags and Starbucks cups are the most brilliant gimmick yet. Thanks, D&D.

I'm glad I randomly held onto my Abercrombie jean skirt c. 2004 when I cleaned out my closet last week!

Next time I am invited to a black tie event, this is what I am wearing!

Why is Taco Bell SO Good??

For reals though, why is Taco Bell so good? I could literally eat it every day and not get sick of it.

Jimi and I stopped at a TB on our way to San Francisco this weekend and spent $5.67. We ate til we could eat no more. Amazing.

Dear Taco Bell,

On behalf of America (and I am sure Barack would agree with me here), thank you for your commitment to hecka delicious food and for being cheap enough to get us through the economic recession with full tummies and smiles on our faces.

Forever Yours,
Casey (& America)

Polaroid is not Dead! (Well, kinda...)

Jimi told me about this sweet application, I think you its for Mac only... Anyone who matters has a Mac now anyway, right? It changes regular images into "polaroids"- it's pretty rad. The two images below were shot on my Canon Rebel...

Get it at Poladroid.net!

Spotted: Maeby Fünke

Ok, her real name is Alia Shawkat, but I would like to think I ran into Maeby.

Jimi and I walked down to Intelligentsia after washing my car yesterday afternoon to get some delicious iced coffee. We were standing out front after drinking said coffee deciding where to get food when some girl walkes out. We sort of stated at each other as people in LA typiclly do (you know, checking to see if you're "somebody") it was kind of an awkward stare cause she was like 10 inches shorter than me and the stare lasted about a second to long. The moment the look was broken, she was behind me and I went "OMG! Maeby Fünke!!" (To which Jimi said, "Who?" Sad.)

Then I called everyone I know.

Do me Daily Christopher Bailey... and Agy.

Last night I dreamed I was working with Christopher Bailey and Agyness Deyn doing promotional work for The Beat.... I didn't want to wake up!

Today Fashionista led me to this video... I love it. It's... aspirational. I so want to be, not only involved in national campaigns and with a Brand like Burberry, but alsoAgy jus tlooks so damn cool dancing around and being free- even in front of all those cameras! I love it all.

Hey, remember when I met C Bailey and he told me I look like Agyness? Yeah. Best day of my life. Ever.

New (ok, new to me) bands to get obsessed with:

Tiny Master of Today. They are amazing. So freaking good... and the amazing part, they are literally children. They're a brother sister duo from New York. At 13 and 11 they've been at this for a couple of years now. Check them out, you will LOVE them. I do.

They have a bunch of songs to listen to on their 'Space.

The other sweet band I just got into is Grand Ole Party... I love them cause their music sounds just like their name. Dig it.

MK and I are, like, twins!

One of the things that I love about Mary-Kate is that she wears pieces she loves over and over. (Ashley does it, too, but not as often.)

In a world where celebrities "can only be seen in something once" or whatever its refreshing that when these girls love something, even though they have the resources to buy gajillions of pretty garments, they wear stuff over and over.

That proably cameout sounding pretty garbled. Oh well. I'm tired. Below is MK at two seperate events in London this week. Note the belt and necklace.

Oh, and the reason that we're "like, twins" is that I totally do that, too. Like MK I wear practically the same outfit over and over until I'm sick of it. And now you know one of my dirty secrets. Don't tell anyone, k?

Peter Petrelli: God's Gift to Women

OMG. I love Heroes.

I work Monday nights, so my step-dad records it for me every week... I wish everyday was Monday! It is seriously the best show ever! I love the plot line with Claire and West. I love Dr. Suresh (sp?). I can't wait to see what happens with Molly and her nightmares.... and I wish Peter would open the box and go home already! His brother needs him!!

4 Days til Heroes! :)

Across the Universe

I can't even begin to convey how much I loved this movie.

I went into it with really high hopes. I've been looking forward to seeing this film since I heard about it over a year ago... and I was not disappointed!

It was beautiful and stirring. I laughed, I cried.... Just go see it... if you like good movies. And the Beatles.

Oh, and it was SO hard not to sing along!

Um, I think I have a problem.

Seriously, I am addicted to Good & Plenty Candies. I think maybe they have crack in them?

Obsessed: Music

I always hear about new bands from my cool friends. (Everyone has them- those couple friends that you still can't help but be ever so slightly intimidated by because they're so, like, in the know, or whatever.)

So my most recent discoveries (and by discoveries, I mean they were shown to me by my savvy friends) are CSS, New Young Pony Club and the Klaxons.

They all sort of fit in the same genre-- that clubby, hip, smeared eyeliner and neon nail polish kind of vibe. If you like to dance and you want to be cool... or so very uncool that it's cool (I know you know what I mean)... then iTunes them.

You'll be glad you did.
